Blog #1: The book is now a reality

It’s official. The Ultimate Guide to Wrestling Camps is now at the printer and will be printed and published and ready for readers soon. It’s been a long journey. I started this book back in 2007 and worked on it through 2009 and into this year. The majority of the book was complete for well over a year, but putting the pieces together took time. It involved finding a printer, a designer, getting the Web site created, and coming up with the finances to make this book happen. Unlike many books out there, I came up with this idea, developed it, wrote the book and served as publisher. So I am financing this book 100 percent on my own. I had some great help along the way to make it happen. Andrew Hipps, Kip Carlson and Mark Palmer all helped write part of the book, and Palmer was great, serving as copy editor and proofreader. Rob Johnson served as designer on the book, and as many will see, he did a great job. Rob set up and arranged the cover photo and designed the inside pages. It’s easy to read and looks good too!

The main thing I am looking forward with this book now being published is that it’s a resource I truly believe the wrestling community can benefit from. It has a lot of great advice and stories, that can help any wrestler at any level, as well as parents of wrestlers.

I hope you get a chance to check it out and  I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions along the way.  I hoped for the book to be available to have for sale at the W.I.N. Magazine show in Omaha at the NCAA Division I tournament, but it doesn’t like it will be printed before then. However it should be ready on Monday, Mar. 22.

I am going to the Brute-Adidas Nationals April 2-4 and that will be the first major kickoff event for the book. I, along with Andrew Hipps, will be covering the tournament and writing articles for the tournament for Intermatwrestle.com and the book will be for sale at a booth at the Brute Adidas Nationals Fan Fest. Stop by and say hi, and I look forward to meeting you and many wrestling families now and in the future.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy the book!
